This was a lithograph done by Aubrun, with figures by Duruy, after a photograph by Victor Frond for the four volume work, "Brazil Pittoresco" by Charles Ribeyrolles, which was a study of Brazilian life during the mid 19th century.


Jean-Victor Frond (1821 - 1881) was a French photographer and painter who owned a studio in Rio de Janeiro between the years 1858 and 1862.
