The watermark is number 59 in John Wilton-Ely on page 1169 and is dated from the mid 1770s to 1790s

Francesco Piranesi was born in 1759, he brought to a triumphal conclusion a number of his father’s incomplete or projected works, including the Paestum etchings, plans of Hadrian’s Villa, Tivoli, and of Pompeii, as well as a survey of the Emissario del Fucino. He also added further plates to various works including the Vedute di Roma and the Trofei di Ottaviano Augusto, and brought out an expanded edition of the Antichita Romane in 1784… Francesco also initiated a number of substantial works on art and archaeology, such as the Raccolta de’Tempi Antichi (1781/1790), Il Teatro di Ercolano (1783), Monumneti degli Scipioni (1785) and the Collection des plus belles statues (1786). He later carried out etchings after his father’s drawn views of Pompeii and included these etchings in the three-volumed publication Antiquites de la Grande Grece (1804-1807)
