Augsburg: Seutter, c.1741. Notes: This map is based on the important De L'isle map of 1703, titled "Carte des environs du Mississippi". This map illustrated the routes for the gold plunders of the Incans by the Spanish. Also of note is the fact that the source of both the Rio Grande and the Mississippi are well detailed, considering the period. Later on, Seutter added four inset maps in the right depicting the bays of Cartagena (Colombia), Havana, Porto Bello (Panama), and Vera Cruz. The Porto Bello inset depicts the fleet of Admiral Vernon entering the bay during the invasion of 1739.
