Pas Kaart Van De Zee Kusten Van Virginia..
Amsterdam: 1695. Notes: "This chart continues south from the van Keulen chart of New York, from the Atlatic City area south to the mouth of Chesapeake Bay, althouth this time orientated with north to the right. Again drawn by C.J. Voogt, it is mainly derived from the Hermann map of 1675, published in England. However, Vooght has an additional source, as yet untraced, from which he has copied a greater number of soundings, so important for safe navigation. The chart is remarkable for the very early appearance of William Penn's Philadelphia, here shown as 'Filadelphy', without even a symbol for a town. The Pennsylvania colony had only been founded by Royal Charter in 1681, and did not gain cty status until 1701." (Baynton-Williams)
