The map includes three finely hand colored engraved vignettes: gold washing in the region from Rio Sacramento and Rio San Joaquim, the ruins at Uxmal in Yucatan and the Mexican peasantry.
It was drawn and engraved by J. Rapkin (vignettes by J. Marchant & J. B. Allen) and published in John Tallis’s Illustrated Atlas (London & New York: John Tallis & co, 1851-1853).
