To make the work more complete, the Editor has compiled a full and faithful Account of the Author’s Life; containing besides the Particulars given us by Toland, and other Authors, many never before printed, with several Pieces now first published from the original Manuscripts of Milton. To which is prefixed a curious Head of the Author, engraven by Mr. Vertue from a Drawing by Mr. Richardson, after a bust done for the Author in his life-time. To the Work is subjoined a large Alphabetical Index, which no other Edition has; and the Impression is much more beautiful and correct than any hitherto published.” -- Advertisement to the Reader.
