Wilhelm Gail (1804-1890) was a German artist. Gail travelled in Spain for a year in 1832, which inspired the work Erinnerungen aus Spanien (1837), meaning, "Memories of Spain.” The book illustrates his experiences in the country, including plates of landscapes and Spanish types. Gail had previously published a similar work of his trip in Italy, entitled “Erinnerung an Florenz, Rom und Neapel” (1827).
