Schedel´s 1493 Liber Chronicarum, later known as the ‘Nuremberg Chronicle’, is based on this possibly first, universal chronicle describing new learning of the time such as the invention of printing, the discovery of America by Columbus. The work includes a schematic world map, large illustrations of biblical scenes and depictions of European cities.

Illustrated title with large device resembling the code of arms of Antoniotto Pallavicini; a schematic world map; full-page woodcuts depicting biblical themes such as the creation, expulsion from paradise, Abel’s death, the tower of Babel; numerous large, decorative, floral and historiated woodcut initials; moreover, just under ninety (<90) in-text woodcuts are depicting town views of varying size; colophon with printer’s device.
