The book focuses on descriptions of various cities, islands, coastlines, botanical discoveries, navigational discoveries and indigenous populations and their cultural practices in places such as Australia, the Malay Archipelago, the Canary Islands, Panama, and Mexico. There is writing in period ink on the blank leaves at the beginning of the first and second volumes. William Dampier (1651-1715) was the first Englishman to explore parts of what is today Australia, and the first person to circumnavigate the world three times.
