, Notes: A scholarly book detailing the architectural aspects of Greco-Roman archaeological antiquities in Magna Graecia (the coastal areas of Southern Italy and Sicily on the Tarentine Gulf that were extensively populated by Greek settlers) during the early 19th century. The plates show architectural renderings of various edifices and views of the area as they were when Wilkins made his journey to view them. William Wilkins (1778-1839) was an English architect, classical scholar and archaeologist. He designed the National Gallery and University College London, and buildings for several Cambridge colleges. He published research into both Classical and Gothic architecture, becoming one of the leading figures in the English Greek Revival of the early 19th century. The contents of this work come from a trip he made, after finishing his B.
