Bartlett made four voyages to the United States and Canada between the years 1836 and 1852, the fruits of which appeared in American Scenery in 1840 and Canadian Scenery in 1842 with text by N.P. Willis”(Harper). In autumn of 1836 in company with Willis he visited Niagara Falls and presumably was briefly in Canada. Journeyed from Halifax to Niagara in1838, completing 117 sepia wash drawings which were engraved and published with text by Willis in a two volume Canadian Scenery in 1840 (DNB).
